Neighbors of the Beckhams are upset about the renovations to their Cotswolds mansion, fearing it will resemble Blackpool.

David and Victoria Beckham have found themselves in hot water with their neighbors once again. It seems that the famous couple's latest plans for their Cotswolds home have not been well received by those living nearby. Despite causing tension within their own family in the past, this time the Beckhams are facing backlash from their community.

The star couple purchased the countryside estate for a whopping £6.15million in 2016, and thanks to various developments, the Grade II-listed farmhouse near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire is now estimated to be worth an astonishing £12m. David and Victoria, with a combined net worth of $673m according to the Sunday Times' 2025 Rich List, divide their time between the Cotswolds, London, Miami, Beverly Hills, and Dubai. And while they may have multiple properties, they are still keen on constantly upgrading their Great Tew home, this time with the installation of pond lighting.

However, this has not gone down well with their neighbors, who fear it will turn their quiet countryside into a Blackpool-like light show. Residents living nearby have expressed concerns about the impact the festooned lighting will have on light pollution, wildlife, and the overall area. The couple has owned the Great Tew property for 10 years now, which is reportedly worth £12million.

James Worthington, a neighbor, voiced his concerns in a comment on the Beckhams' application, questioning whether the proposed lighting is suitable for the rural setting of Great Tew. He also expressed worry about where the additional "wall lights" would be positioned and the potential harm to wildlife and the enjoyment of the countryside and night sky. This isn't the first time the Beckhams have caused a stir with their neighbors over their lake, which they added to their property in 2021.

Upon initially securing permission, they were instructed to surround the lake with wildflower meadows and native trees, creating a natural and organic parkland-style landscape that would blend in with the house. However, last October, it was reported that they also added 1,000 sq ft of sand at the lake's edge without permission. This has only added to the tension with their neighbors, who are known for strictly adhering to the rules.

A source close to the couple has stated that they have followed regulations "to the letter," but this hasn't stopped their neighbors from voicing their disapproval. In fact, one resident, Harriet Jones, strongly objected to David's request to build an "agricultural storage barn" on the property for his beekeeping hobby, stating that it is just another addition to the "endless buildings" on their land and makes no sense for someone who moved to the countryside to escape the city. Since moving into their Cotswolds home, David and Victoria have clashed with their neighbors on multiple occasions.

They even withdrew an application to build a second access road to their mansion. However, in recent months, it's been their family dynamics that have made headlines, with their eldest son Brooklyn, 27, publicly feuding with them on social media. Despite his parents reaching out with birthday tributes this month and his younger brother Cruz expressing his desire to reconcile, Brooklyn has no interest in repairing their relationship.

He has accused his parents of prioritizing their public image over genuine relationships and constantly trying to control the narrative. Instead, he is happy living in the US with his wife Nicola Peltz and her welcoming billionaire family. Nicola, whose parents are billionaire tycoon Nelson and his wife Claudia, has praised Brooklyn for supporting her dreams and having the biggest heart.

She also revealed that he gets along well with her siblings and loves playing soccer with them. When asked about the Beckham family, she seemed to make a subtle dig, stating that her in-laws are like "another son" to her parents. Reps for David and Victoria Beckham have been contacted for comment.
