Man Utd interested in signing ex-Sheffield Weds player for midfield options.

Manchester United has set their sights on an unexpected target for their midfield - Fisayo Dele Bashiru. The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Lazio, has emerged as a potential signing for the Red Devils this summer. While the club has already secured their first addition with the signing of Ederson from Atalanta, they are still on the lookout for at least one more midfielder.

Names like Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, Carlos Baleba from Brighton, Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace, and Alex Scott from Bournemouth are all being considered. However, these Premier League options come with a hefty price tag. That's why Manchester United is also looking at Dele Bashiru, who could prove to be a more affordable option.

The Nigerian midfielder, who has 18 caps for his country, has been with Lazio since 2024 and could make a big move to Old Trafford this year. Interestingly, Dele Bashiru has a history with Manchester City, having come through their academy. However, he never made a professional appearance for them and instead moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2020.

After spending three years with the Owls in the Championship and League One, he then joined Turkish club Hatayspor before eventually landing at Lazio. Despite being a less high-profile option compared to other midfield targets, Dele Bashiru has caught the eye of Manchester United with his performances in Italy. And with Lazio reportedly valuing him at just €5.4 million, he could be a bargain buy for the Red Devils.

While it may seem like an unlikely move, especially with the caliber of players Manchester United is also considering, Dele Bashiru could still prove to be a valuable addition to the squad. Other potential signings like Anderson, Scott, and Matheus Fernandes from West Ham all come with a much higher price tag, with Anderson alone expected to cost around £100m. It is clear that Manchester United is exploring all their options as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Whether they end up signing Dele Bashiru or not, one thing is for sure - the Red Devils are determined to make a splash in the transfer market this summer.
