In the town of Koraput, there was a heartbreaking incident involving a young migrant worker. Duryodhan Amanatya, a 24-year-old from Khangarguda village, had recently traveled to Tamil Nadu in search of work, hoping to support his family back home. However, his journey took a tragic turn when he fell ill and passed away on August 17 while working at a brick factory in Obulapuram.
Upon hearing this devastating news, Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati took action. He reached out to the chief ministers of both Odisha and Tamil Nadu, urging them to help bring Duryodhan's body back to his home in Koraput. According to the family, Duryodhan's body had been lying in a government hospital in Ponneri for three days without a post-mortem being conducted, causing immense distress for his loved ones.
Expressing his concern and frustration over the delay, MLA Bahinipati turned to social media and called for the necessary procedures to be completed as soon as possible. He pleaded with the governments of both states to intervene and ensure that Duryodhan's body is returned to his village without any further delay. In addition to reaching out to the political leaders, Bahinipati also urged the Koraput district administration to take action.
He requested that they coordinate with the authorities in Tamil Nadu to facilitate the transportation of Duryodhan's body back to Khangarguda village, so that his family can perform the last rites and bid their final farewell. Thankfully, the sub-collector of Jayapur, Jadumani Nayak, has assured that the matter will be looked into and appropriate action will be taken. The news of Duryodhan's untimely death has deeply saddened the community, and they are hopeful that the necessary steps will be taken to bring his body back home.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the hardships faced by many migrant workers, and the importance of providing support and assistance to those who leave their homes in search of better opportunities. Rest in peace, Duryodhan Amanatya.
