According to a senior official, the work of taking inventory in the Puri Jagannath Temple's 'Ratna Bhandar' or treasury has resumed. This was done under tight security and by following the Standard Operating Procedure approved by the Odisha government. The process of counting the jewellery and valuables stored in the 'Ratna Bhandar' began on March 25 after a long break of 48 years.
It was temporarily paused due to the busy rituals taking place in the 12th-century shrine. The chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Arabinda Padhee, informed the media that today's inventory started at 5:15 pm and ended at 8:42 pm. This means that the process went on for 3 hours and 27 minutes.
The last inventory was conducted on May 12, as confirmed by the official. He also shared that as per the decision, the next inventory will take place on May 21, 23, 26, and 28-30. Padhee also explained that during this period, the inventory will start after the completion of the 'Madhyahna Dhupa' rituals.
Special arrangements have been made to ensure that the rituals of the deities continue uninterrupted and devotees can have a smooth 'Darshan' during the inventory process. He requested the cooperation of all servitors, officials, devotees, and the general public, just like before. Furthermore, the official mentioned that for security reasons, the 'Darshan' of the deities will only be available to the devotees from the 'Bahara Katha'.
This means that they can only see the deities from outside the sacred treasury. He concluded by reiterating the need for everyone's cooperation and support in making this process successful.
