Deputy CM of Odisha updates PM on the success of 'Subhadra' scheme in Delhi.

In a recent meeting in New Delhi, Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their discussion, Parida shared the success of various women-centric schemes implemented in the state. The meeting took place just before the upcoming release of the fifth instalment of financial assistance under the 'Subhadra' scheme, which aims to support over one crore women in Odisha.

The latest instalment, scheduled for August 28, will provide Rs 5,000 each to eligible beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer. This amounts to a total transfer of more than Rs 5,160 crore, benefiting a total of 1,03,26,162 women in the state. Highlighting the steps taken by the Odisha government to ensure smooth and timely transfer of the assistance, Parida, who also holds charge of the state's Women and Child Development Department, presented the details to the Prime Minister.

It is worth mentioning that the 'Subhadra' scheme was launched by the Prime Minister himself in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024, soon after the BJP government came into power. This flagship women-centric scheme aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to eligible beneficiaries over a period of five years, with an annual instalment of Rs 10,000 being provided in two equal parts.
