Hello there, college football fans! The Hotline is thrilled to offer you an inside look at the exciting world of recruiting, courtesy of Brandon Huffman, the national recruiting editor for 247Sports who is based in Seattle. He recently shared his latest report with us on October 31st, so let's dive right in!

First up, let's talk about the University of Colorado. With a bowl berth already secured, the Buffaloes are making some serious moves on the recruiting trail. Under former coach Deion Sanders, they were known for their focus on the transfer portal. But now that they're back in the Big 12, they're setting their sights on two key states: Florida and Texas. And they've already managed to flip two commitments from other Big 12 schools. In July, UCF received a commitment from defensive lineman Christian Hudson, a highly-ranked prospect from the Sunshine State. And just three days after de-committing from Arizona State, four-star receiver Adrian Wilson announced he would be headed to play for Sanders. With only 10 high school commitments so far, Wilson is now the second highest-rated pledge in Colorado's class.

Next up, let's take a look at the BYU Cougars. They've been on a winning streak, while their cross-town rivals UCLA have been struggling. And now, they've managed to secure a highly sought-after recruit from John Muir High School. Three-star edge rusher Cole Cogshell had committed to BYU over the summer, but his senior film caught the attention of several schools and his stock rose in the rankings. He recently de-committed from the Cougars and just a day later, UCLA offered him a spot on their team. By the end of the week, Cogshell had officially joined the Bruins' class of 2025. He cited the opportunity to play in front of his friends and family at the iconic Rose Bowl as a major factor in his decision. Fun fact: Cogshell's high school, John Muir, is also the alma mater of legendary athlete Jackie Robinson. They'll be playing their crosstown rival Pasadena in the 77th Turkey Tussle on November 1st at the Rose Bowl.

Moving on to Oregon State, their game against former Pac-12 rival Cal didn't go as planned last Saturday, with a disappointing 44-7 loss. But it wasn't all bad news for the Beavers. They managed to flip two out-of-state recruits, one of whom had actually committed before the Cal game and the other earlier this week. Niklas Fisher from Texas and Bleu Dantzler from Arizona, both three-star prospects, had visited Corvallis during OSU's game against UNLV. Dantzler had originally committed to Utah State, but with the Aggies still under an interim coach and looking for a permanent hire, he decided to make a lateral move within the Pac-12. Fisher, on the other hand, had initially committed to Texas State but was convinced to switch to Oregon State after an official visit.

Things haven't been going well for the Arizona Wildcats either. Once a preseason Top-25 team, they're now on a four-game losing streak and have lost three home games since their win at Utah on September 28th. But they did manage to flip one commitment from a former Pac-12 school and land a highly-rated prospect from Northern California. Last week, linebacker Carter Jones de-committed from Cal and announced he would be joining the Wildcats. And on Wednesday, Arizona scored a major win when offensive tackle Louis Akpa from Serra High School in San Mateo committed to their program. Akpa had previously visited Boise State and had plans to visit Cal and Minnesota, but ultimately chose Arizona after connecting with offensive line coach Josh Oglesby, who used to coach at San Jose State. Akpa was also helped by former Serra teammate Jabari Mann, who had committed to San Jose State but followed his former coach, Brent Brennan, to Arizona.

Now, let's talk about the University of Washington. They've had several opportunities to showcase their program to potential recruits this year, but their final home game on November 15th will be their last chance. Fortunately, it's a Saturday game against USC, which means it's easier for recruits to attend. The Huskies have been pulling out all the stops to impress their guests, both local and national. And they have a big one coming up: Bralan Womack, the No. 1 safety in the country for the class of 2026, will be in the stadium on Saturday. That's a huge deal, considering Womack has scholarship offers from some of the top programs in the country. The Huskies have been working hard to stay in the running for Womack, and now they finally have the chance to host him on campus. They'll also have top-rated in-state player Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and Top247 linebacker Tristan Phillips in attendance. All eyes will be on Womack, so let's see if the Huskies can seal the deal.
