The Lokmanya Tilak Marg police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a man. On Saturday morning, the police received a message that an unconscious man was lying on the footpath near Dhanji Street. The police rushed to the spot and took the man to the GT Hospital where he was declared dead.
According to the postmortem report, the man had been murdered by strangulation. The deceased was identified as Vijay Mandal who drove a hand-cart. The police suspected Pradeep Mandal and Suraj Pramanik and brought them to the police station. Under interrogation, both of them confessed to killing Vijay Mandal.
The police found out that the two accused had an old rivalry with the deceased. At 1.30 am on Saturday, they beat up Mandal and then strangled him with a pajama rope. An FIR was filed and the two were presented before the court, which sent them to the police custody.
The LT Marg police are continuing their investigation to find out more details about the case. The police are determined to get justice for the murdered man and bring the perpetrators to book.
