Tribal students in Manipur protest gov't neglect of their education.
Revised Text:

Thousands of students, including those pursuing professional courses, in Manipur’s Churachandpur organised a protest rally on Saturday. The rally was organised by the Joint Student Body to address the alleged discrimination of students belonging to the Kuki-Zo community by the Manipur government.

The rally was attended by thousands of students from private and government colleges and schools in the district. Displaced medical, engineering, nursing and other professional course students stated that they were unable to continue their studies due to the government’s failure to make alternative arrangements for them.

The agitating students demanded an alternative arrangement for them to study in nearby states. They highlighted the unfairness they are facing as their counterparts in Imphal are taking classes and participating in semester exams without any issues. They also expressed their grievances about the burning of documents, certificates, properties, study materials and their belongings.

The students also raised their demand to resume online exams through CDS Infotech Online Examination. This exam had to be discontinued due to the ethnic violence that broke out on May 3. The Joint Student Body sent a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighting their demands and problems.

Apart from these, the JSB also demanded the establishment of a Central University in Churachandpur District, establishment of technical and other higher educational institutes in the hill districts, disbursal of funds and benefits under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and other Ministries for tribal empowerment to organisations based in the hill districts and headed by tribals. The National Council For Teacher Education also announced maternity and childcare leave for students.
