As sports fans get ready to support their favorite HBCUs during the school year, Anthony Lawrence Collection is offering a unique and new retail experience. Defron Fobb opened the store two years ago in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, close to Southern University. With a background in design and work experience, he had the idea of creating a store that offers different products and high-quality clothing for HBCUs that weren’t available elsewhere.

“I wanted to give people something different and something that stands out from the rest,” Fobb said. “Southern University is its own brand, and I wanted to make sure that it gets the exposure and recognition it deserves.”

The store, which just had its grand opening on September 8, provides a wide selection of clothing from over 12 HBCUs, as well as some non-HBCUs. Fobb also ensures that everyone is catered to, providing sizes from newborn to XL.

Southern University student Caleigha Hughes is excited about this new store and what it brings. She said, “HBCU students should have access to resources that allow them to easily rep their school without having to spend a lot of money.”

The Anthony Lawrence Collection store is a great opportunity for HBCU students and fans to purchase high-quality merchandise and rep their favorite schools. Fobb is proud of his work and hopes that his store will help the brand of each school. He concluded that “it's going to reach a different audience and just help the brand out.”
