Kev Townsend has returned to Emmerdale after a brief absence, and he's bringing with him a whole lot of chaos. We first met Kev last year when he was introduced as Robert Sugden's prison husband.

He had lied about his health to get early release, and he moved to the village to continue his relationship with Robert. However, Robert had already reunited with Aaron Dingle, and he kept this from Kev in order to inherit his money after his death. Eventually, living a double life became too much and Kev couldn't handle Robert's rejection.

In a fit of rage, Kev held Robert, Aaron, and Liam Cavanagh hostage with a stolen sword from a pawn shop. But when he realized that Robert wasn't going to take him back, he left the village without facing any consequences from the police. He did make a brief return as part of John Sugden's grand revenge plan, but he wisely chose to warn Aaron of the danger instead of getting involved.

During his absence, Kev also discovered that Lewis Barton is his biological son. Lewis doesn't know this, but there's a high chance he'll find out when Kev returns to the village. Actor Chris Coghill, who plays Kev, says that his character will try to right his past wrongs by stepping into a fatherly role for Lewis.
