Ronnie O’Sullivan is no stranger to the game of snooker, and the seven-time world champion has recently revealed his favorite snooker venue of all time.
The former home of the Scottish Masters, the Motherwell Civic Centre, was picked out by O’Sullivan as his top venue. The Scottish Masters was held at the venue in Motherwell in 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998, with O’Sullivan winning the tournament for the first time in that last year, beating John Higgins in the final.
Speaking to Stephen Hendry on his Cue Tips YouTube channel, O’Sullivan said of his favorite venue: “I used to like Motherwell, I really liked that. Goff’s is obviously super-charged, but I’ll probably take Motherwell.”
Goff’s, located in County Kildare, Ireland, is another one of O’Sullivan’s favorite venues. The venue used to host the Irish Masters, and O’Sullivan has previously spoken of his experiences there. On Colin Murray’s 52 podcast, O’Sullivan stated: “It’s the only time where I’ve played, when you hear people say ‘the hairs on the back of your neck stand up’ that was the one time it did.”
The Q&A between O’Sullivan and his fellow seven-time world champion Hendry also covered a wide range of topics, including who O’Sullivan believes will be the first to win a second world title - Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy or Luca Brecel. O’Sullivan believes it will be either Brecel or Trump, but noted that Trump is currently struggling a bit and that anything could happen in the game.
It is clear that O’Sullivan has a special place in his heart for the Motherwell Civic Centre and the Irish venue at Goff’s. He looks fondly on his experiences at both places and hopes that Motherwell one day returns to the calendar.
