Delhi High Court orders Sonam Wangchuk to be transferred to Medanta hospital.

The Delhi High Court has made a significant decision to transfer activist Sonam Wangchuk to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram from Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. This order comes after an appeal filed by Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, against the HC's previous decision to not interfere with his treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. The bench, comprising of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia, took into consideration the urgency of the situation as Wangchuk has been on an indefinite fast since June 28.

The court directed the director of Medanta Hospital to assemble a team of doctors with the necessary expertise to closely monitor Wangchuk's condition. It was also emphasized that the doctors must follow standard medical procedures and protocols, which Wangchuk must comply with. The court recognized that it is Wangchuk's fundamental right, as stated in Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution, to be treated at a hospital of his choice.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta confirmed that the government has no objection to Wangchuk's transfer to Medanta Hospital.
