As we gear up for the highly anticipated new season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, one former star has spilled some behind-the-scenes secrets about their time in the jungle. Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, who joined the show in 2019 alongside a star-studded cast including Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright, Roman Kemp, and winner Jacqueline Jossa, revealed that their season was particularly known for being the "smelliest year ever."
In an interview on Monday's episode of GMB, Kate shared that the wildfires at the time prevented the campmates from being able to start their own campfire, which is usually used to mask the smells after weeks of living in the elements. "We were the smelliest year ever," she admitted, quoting Ant and Dec. "Normally everyone smells, but normally the campfire covers it. Whereas we had a gas burner to be safe, and we stank of fish oils and guts and everything."
However, Kate was quick to apologize for her unexpected confession, jokingly saying, "I'm so sorry I shared that, I'm worried for all my campmates now." She clarified that it wasn't anything to do with her fellow stars, but rather the circumstances they were in. "Don't sue me Caitlyn Jenner!" she laughed.
Despite being able to use "roll-on" deodorant, Kate explained that the issue wasn't so much the sweat, but rather the things that got stuck to the campmates' bodies during the trials. This revelation even made GMB co-host Adil Ray shuffle down the sofa in discomfort.
Later on in the show, Kate's former campmate Adele Roberts joined in and described their time in the jungle as "like a Tarantino movie." She also praised Kate for her impressive strength in the challenges, saying, "She was ripping down trees!" Kate then advised this year's contestants, "It is a mental challenge as well as a physical challenge."
As for the upcoming season, which will feature stars like Coleen Rooney, Tulisa, Danny Jones, and GK Barry, ITV bosses have reportedly taken steps to avoid any potential controversies. It has been claimed that they purposely avoided casting any politicians in order to have a more "positive" series. A source told MailOnline, "Changing the show's fundamental format, producers have added two camp leaders to allow contestants to create bonds."
