Army officer from Kalahandi chosen to receive Sena Medal for bravery.

In a momentous occasion, Army Major Sudhansu Pani hailing from the Kalahandi district in Orissa has been awarded the prestigious Sena Medal for his bravery and valor in the line of duty. The 2025 recipient of this esteemed award, Pani was recognized for his outstanding role in 'Operation Guddar' which took place in Jammu and Kashmir against a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. Out of the 78 commendable individuals selected by President Droupadi Murmu for the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, Pani is the sole representative from Orissa to receive this gallantry award.

According to reports, Pani played a crucial role in the September 2025 operation where he successfully eliminated Rehman Bhai, a prominent Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. Pani, who hails from the Kachhimdola village in Junagada block, has been residing in Junagada town with his mother, Rajkumari Pani.
