President Murmu urges legislators to act with people's interests in mind, as
President Droupadi Murmu visited the Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan, appealing to the MLAs to keep the people's trust and think for the public in their conduct and demeanor.

“People follow you, love you, and choose you again and again,” she said. “Think how lucky you are that the people have elected you. People choose you again and again. Follow your hairstyle to the way you wear clothes, so whatever work you do, do it keeping the public in mind.”

She also took the opportunity to recall the glorious history of Rajasthan, paying homage to its legends, heroes and past governors and chief ministers.

In this era of technology, Murmu mentioned that the public sees and understands what their representatives are doing for them. She urged all the public representatives to make rules and regulations keeping in view the needs of the present and maintain the trust of the people.

Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra similarly expressed his concern about the practice of not proroguing the budget session of the assembly. He said that rules and procedures should be taken care of in the house and meetings of the House should be called on time.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House and Governor Mishra warmly welcomed the President. However, recently a security breach incident happened in Rajasthan where a Junior Engineer was suspended for trying to touch Murmu’s feet.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot even suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and LS Speaker Om Birla should invite President Murmu for the inauguration of the new Parliament building in Delhi.
