The Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Laxmi Singh, held a press conference on Tuesday to address the recent workers' protest in Noida. She informed the reporters that the police have taken swift action by arresting more than 300 individuals and filing seven FIRs in connection with the violent protest. Singh also mentioned that in order to maintain law and order, continuous route marches have been carried out since early morning.
She stated, "Our officers have been conducting route marches since 5:00 AM. This morning, a group of workers had gathered at three different locations. However, with immediate dialogue, we were able to peacefully disperse them within just 15 minutes." The Police Commissioner also shed light on the recent development of several WhatsApp groups being created using QR codes to add workers.
This suggests the involvement of an organized network. "We have noticed that over the past two days, multiple WhatsApp groups have been formed. These groups are being used to add workers by scanning QR codes.
This clearly indicates the presence of an organized and well-planned syndicate behind these activities," she added. Singh further informed that the police have identified and arrested the individuals who were responsible for instigating the unrest. She assured that more arrests will be made in the coming days.
"We have identified and arrested certain individuals who were involved in such acts. We will continue to make more arrests as the investigation progresses. We are also looking into their funding sources and if it is found that they received any financial aid from outside the state or country, appropriate action will be taken," she said.
The Commissioner also spoke about the incidents reported from multiple locations on Monday, stating that seven FIRs have been filed and more than 300 people have been taken into custody. She also added that more arrests are expected in the following days. Singh mentioned the efforts being made to resolve the situation, stating that a committee formed by the state government has been holding discussions with all the stakeholders.
"The High-Powered Committee, which has been present here since yesterday, has been engaging in extensive and marathon meetings with all the stakeholders. They have come up with certain recommendations, which will be announced in a press conference scheduled for 11:30 AM today," she said. The Police Commissioner also assured that the government is aware and sensitive to the concerns of the workers and is committed to addressing their issues.
"The Government of Uttar Pradesh understands the grievances of the workers and empathizes with their situation. We are committed to resolving all their issues," she added. In conclusion, Singh stated that the situation is being closely monitored and the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the workers.
She also urged everyone to maintain peace and cooperate with the authorities. The press conference was attended by several media personnel and was widely covered by Orissa POST, Odisha's No.1 English Daily.
