On Saturday, a concerning incident took place in Jajpur, Odisha, as a total of 58 people, including 27 children, were rushed to the hospital. It was reported that they had fallen ill after consuming a local delicacy, 'dahibara', from a vendor in Patapur village, under the Dasarathapur block. The situation quickly escalated when the individuals began to experience vomiting and fever after consuming the food.
The sick were immediately taken to the Dasarathapur Community Health Centre and the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Thankfully, 21 people have already been discharged after receiving proper medical attention, according to the Jajpur District Collector, Ambar Kumar Kar. The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mukesh Mahaling, also made a visit to the District Headquarters Hospital to personally check on the health condition of the affected individuals.
In a statement to the press, Minister Mahaling confirmed that 58 people, including 27 children, were admitted to the hospital due to consuming 'dahibara'. He also mentioned that the government has taken the necessary steps to collect food and water samples from the affected individuals and sent them for testing. Later on, in a post on social media, the minister shared that the District Collector of Jajpur had personally visited the hospital and met with the patients to inquire about their well-being.
To further investigate the incident, the state government has formed three independent teams, as stated by the minister. He also assured that the government is doing everything possible to ensure that the sick individuals receive the best possible medical care. The incident has caused great concern among the people of Jajpur, but the government is working tirelessly to address the issue and provide the necessary support.
