Modi praises new TN CM, promises continued collaboration to enhance citizens' well-being.

In Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to C. Joseph Vijay, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, to extend his congratulations on his Sunday swearing-in ceremony. He expressed his hope for a fruitful collaboration between the Central Government and the Tamil Nadu Government for the betterment of the public.

PM Modi conveyed his best wishes to Thiru C. Joseph Vijay and his newly formed Council of Ministers, ensuring his support for their tenure ahead. The event was a historic moment for Tamil Nadu, marking a significant shift in its political landscape after nearly six decades of alternating rule between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

The oath-taking ceremony, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, was graced by the presence of national and regional political leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, as well as film personalities, party workers, and thousands of supporters. The massive turnout prompted strict security measures in and around the venue, with heavy police presence and intensified vehicle checks. Vijay's assumption of office comes after his alliance, led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), secured the support of 120 MLAs in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, well above the required majority mark of 118.

While the TVK emerged as the single largest party in the recent Assembly elections, they needed the backing of other parties to form the government. After days of intense political negotiations, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) pledged their support to the Vijay-led formation, along with the earlier backing of the Congress, the Communist Party of India (CPI), and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM). Following the securing of support, Vijay met with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and submitted letters of support from all five allies.

The Governor then appointed Vijay as Chief Minister-designate and requested him to seek a vote of confidence in the Assembly before May 13. This marks a significant moment in Tamil Nadu politics, as a non-Dravidian party has come to power for the first time since 1967. It is seen as a major realignment in the state's political landscape, which has long been dominated by the DMK and AIADMK.

This event has been closely watched by political observers and has been viewed as a pivotal moment in Tamil Nadu's history.
