It was heartening to see the author of the letter recognizing outgoing Representative Barbara Lee for her humanitarian work. My own congressman, Representative Mark DeSaulnier, aligns with Lee's social ideology as well. He has been a strong advocate for addressing the impact of income inequality on quality of life, supporting initiatives like the American Family Act and the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act.

However, we cannot take the altruistic values of our representatives for granted. As constituents, it is important for us to build relationships with our elected officials, especially with the newly elected officials across the country who will soon be taking office. We must encourage them to prioritize domestic and global social issues and make it a part of their legacy in office.

Moving on to another topic, it's been debated whether Governor Gavin Newsom's special session is simply a political stunt. However, let's not forget that California is the fifth largest economy in the world and essentially a nation of its own. We should be able to protect our citizens from any harmful policies implemented by President Donald Trump. If that means calling for a special session, then so be it. It's worth noting that governors of other states, such as Washington and Illinois, have also made similar statements.

As Americans, we must come together and resist the incoming Trump administration's racist and xenophobic policies. As exiled Chinese dissident Wan Yanhai, a naturalized American citizen, reminds us, this is the essence of democracy. We must peacefully present information and engage in debates to bring about change, rather than turning away from those we disagree with. When Trump threatens the values of freedom and democracy in this country, we have nowhere else to go. It's up to us to use the Constitution to defend ourselves and stand in solidarity with one another.

It's worth noting that Trump and his followers took credit for the strong economy inherited from the Obama administration in 2008. Now, as Joe Biden takes office, he has brought us to an economy that is the envy of the world. And once again, it appears that Trump will try to take credit for it. But let's not forget that it is the result of Biden's policies, such as the Infrastructure Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the PACT Act, that will continue to pay off for the next decade.

Lastly, it's important to address the post-election narrative that seeks to find fault with Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign or President Biden. These narratives are not only false, but they reflect a desire among many to simply not accept the outcome of the election. During the campaign, a clear distinction was made between the two candidates and their proposed paths for the country on issues like healthcare, climate change, NATO, immigration, and the economy. Whatever happens next is not a matter of fault, but simply the result of the majority's choice.

In a world full of noise and distractions, the healing power of sound often goes unnoticed. I discovered this firsthand when I suffered a debilitating arm and shoulder injury that left me unable to play the piano. Traditional treatments provided little relief, leading me to sound healing - a gentle practice that uses vibrational frequencies for relaxation and healing. Immersing myself in the soothing sounds of singing bowls and tuning forks felt like a spa day for my soul. Not only did it ease my physical discomfort, but it also helped me confront long-buried traumas with self-compassion.

Through this practice, I learned that our bodies and emotions are deeply connected, and healing one can lead to healing the other. I encourage anyone seeking healing to explore the power of sound. Embracing this practice can lead to profound self-discovery and guide us towards consciousness, creativity, and reclaiming our personal sovereignty.
