Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government on Saturday over Home Minister Narottam Mishra’s comments regarding taking action against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s recent tweet.
Nath criticized the state government for its lack of action against corruption and said, “There are thousands of issues. How many cases will BJP file? Now that corruption is being exposed all across the state, what solution is left for them?”
Gandhi had shared a newspaper clipping on Twitter on Friday evening, accusing the state government of collecting 50 percent commission as payment from contractors. She further wrote, “The people of Karnataka ousted the government of 40 percent commission, now the people of Madhya Pradesh will remove the BJP government of 50 percent commission from the power.”
The Congress leader also accused the BJP of trying to divert attention away from the corruption issue by bringing up Sant Ravidas and other saints. Nath said, “Today the BJP started remembering everything. They think that they will be able to divert the attention of the public and will succeed in misleading the people. But voters of Madhya Pradesh have decided to bid adieu to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.”
Meanwhile, Home Minister Mishra retaliated to Gandhi’s tweet, saying that it shows the mindset of the Congress and is proof that the party has no agenda. He said, “Already people do not have faith in the party, and now because of your deceitful tweet, they have further lost faith in it.” He challenged Congress members to provide proof of the allegation made in the tweet, otherwise he would take action in the matter.
