India's largest nuclear power plant is impacted by a data breach.

In a recent and exclusive report by Reuters, it has been revealed that a ransomware group called World Leaks has made a startling revelation. This group has allegedly posted almost 19,000 files on the dark web that are believed to be associated with the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu. This plant happens to be India's largest nuclear power plant, making this a matter of great concern.

According to the report, the files are said to have originated from the well-known Reliance Group, owned by Anil Ambani. These files reportedly contain sensitive information such as plans for ventilation and cooling systems, the layout of a common control room, supplier lists, inspection records, equipment reviews, and insurance documents. It is worth noting that Reliance Group is a contractor for KKNPP Units 3 and 4.

When reached for comment, Reliance Group confirmed the existence of a "partial breach" of data that was being hosted on a third-party server operated by Yotta. They also assured that the government had been informed of the situation. However, they did not specify exactly what data had been compromised.

It was cybersecurity researcher Rakesh Krishnan who first brought this leak to the attention of Reuters. Experts are expressing concern over the possible implications of this leak. They believe that it could potentially help attackers in mapping out support systems, suppliers, and even identify potential security vulnerabilities.

However, it should be noted that the documents do not seem to involve the core systems of the reactors, which are supplied by Russia's Rosatom. This leak is part of a larger cache of 858,000 files belonging to Reliance that have been published by WikiLeaks. This has caused a stir in the community and raised questions about the overall security of sensitive information.

As this story develops, it is crucial to keep a close eye on any further developments and how they may impact the safety and security of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing situation.
