Daniel Rodimer, a former WWE wrestler and Republican Congressional candidate, has turned himself in to authorities after being charged with the murder of Christopher Tapp. The 45-year-old Tapp was found dead in a hotel room at Resorts World on the Las Vegas strip last year, after being recently exonerated for a wrongful conviction that had landed him in prison for 20 years. Although initially ruled as an accident, the Clark County Coroner's Office later discovered evidence of blunt force trauma to Tapp's head and ruled it a homicide.
Rodimer, a married father-of-six, has denied the allegations and turned himself in to the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday after a warrant for his arrest was issued. He first appeared on the WWE reality show Tough Enough in 2004 and later signed a developmental deal with the company. He wrestled a total of 77 times under the WWE and its developmental leagues.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney's Office, Rodimer is accused of intentionally and premeditatedly striking Tapp on the head. He has been released on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 10. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, who had been investigating the case, identified Rodimer as the suspect in Tapp's murder.
Rodimer's wrestling career began as a contestant on Tough Enough and he went on to sign with the WWE's developmental league, Deep South Wrestling, in 2004. He later wrestled for Ohio Valley Wrestling and made his full WWE debut in 2007. He was released from his WWE contract in 2007 and eventually moved into politics, running unsuccessfully for Congress in 2019 and 2021.
