Forest Department Successful in Repelling 15 Elephants

Siddapur, Aug. 12: The Forest Department has succeeded in repelling a herd of more than 15 elephants that were roaming in the plantations.

Under the guidance of Deputy Conservator of Forests Jagannath, under the leadership of Zonal Forest Officer Gangadhar, more than 15 wild elephants, including the maryans, who were camping in the coffee plantations of Chennangi branch of Thitimathi zone, were driven back into the forest.

Some wild elephants that got separated during the operation have remained in the plantation. Recently, more than 35 wild elephants of the Usha and Meera groups, which were fitted with radio collars in this area, were found during the operation.

The operation was attended by Forest Department staff and R. R. T. team members Ranjit, Shankar, Pradeep, Roshan, Prajwal and Arun, among others.
