Early on Saturday morning, a terrifying incident occurred on Ersham Road, a residential road in Hailsham, Sussex. Four people had broken into a man's home and threatened the elderly pensioner inside. The man, who is in his 80s, was forced to hand over a quantity of cash.
The incident was reported to Sussex Police at 12.35am, who arrived at the scene to carry out an extensive search. Sadly, the elderly man had been hit over the head and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully, he has since been discharged.
In order to track down any suspects, armed officers used sniffer dogs and a drone to comb the local area, but unfortunately had no luck. County police are still actively searching for any leads, and are asking anyone who may have seen what happened or have any relevant CCTV or dash cam footage to contact them.
