Deepak Kumar Mishra, the director of the popular comedy drama series "Panchayat", has revealed that there are plans for at least two more seasons of the show. The team has already started working on the fourth installment, which comes as exciting news for fans.
The highly-anticipated third season of "Panchayat" is set to premiere on Prime Video soon, featuring a star-studded cast including Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa. The previous two seasons received overwhelming responses from viewers, making it an instant hit upon its release in 2020 and 2022.
In an interview, Mishra shared, "We have already begun writing for season four. For us, there is usually no break between two seasons. We have just finished season three and have already written three to four episodes for the next one. We have also thought about planning for season five."
"Panchayat" follows the story of Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate who reluctantly takes on the role of a secretary in a panchayat office in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh. Mishra revealed that when they started working on season three, they were careful not to let the show's popularity influence their creative decisions.
"We wanted to make sure that we stayed true to the core essence of the show and took the story forward in an organic manner. Our focus was on making the new season even more entertaining and emotionally impactful," he added.
Mishra also shared his initial doubts about the show's success when the first season premiered in 2020. He explained, "Since the show was in a niche genre, we were unsure about its acceptability among the audience. We put in a lot of effort into the script and had confidence that if people watched the entire show, it would be a hit. But there was always that fear of what if they don't watch it? Thankfully, the show was well-received, and I am grateful for that."
The upcoming third season, created by The Viral Fever, will be available in Hindi with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, catering to a wider audience. Fans can expect another entertaining and heartwarming season from "Panchayat" as the team continues to deliver quality content.
