Even the gaming giant itself has not been immune to the ongoing memory shortages, which led to the price hike just ahead of the console's one-year anniversary this summer.

As of earlier this month, the official price for the Switch 2 is now £419.99, which is £24 more than its original price tag of £395.99. However, this increase is still significantly lower compared to the steep price hikes for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you were hesitant to invest in a Switch 2 due to the new price, we have some exciting news for you.

For some unknown reason, a few retailers are now offering a generous price cut, making the console even cheaper than its original cost. Today, we noticed that both Argos and Smyths are selling the Switch 2 for only £354.99, which is the lowest price ever advertised by the former. Plus, if you purchase from Smyths, you can also snag a carry case for just £10, instead of the usual £14.99. We were curious if this was an official price drop from Nintendo, but it seems like no other retailers are offering the Switch 2 at this discounted price. So unfortunately, we can't say for sure why Argos and Smyths are being so generous.

The next best offer we found is from EE, selling the console for £368, followed by Currys and Very at £389.99. These deals are likely to be grabbed quickly, especially with the highly-anticipated remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time coming out in November. The Switch 2 is also a great option if you're looking for a new gaming console to gift this Christmas.

Especially since the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are still a lot more expensive at £519.99 and £619.99, respectively. It's highly unlikely that Microsoft will offer any price cuts on their consoles this holiday season, as they have never done so in the past. And while no official announcement has been made, it seems like Microsoft has significantly slowed down hardware production.

As for Sony, they have no reason to offer any price cuts for the PlayStation 5, since the highly-anticipated release of GTA 6 is happening in November. Although it's not a console exclusive, Sony has been heavily promoting it to the point where it might as well be. And with the pre-order figures looking good, it's expected to drive up PlayStation 5 sales as well.

So it's safe to say that Sony will want to make as much profit as possible. However, it's still uncertain if there will be an official bundle with the PlayStation 5 and a copy of GTA 6. Unfortunately, it looks like GTA 6 will not be coming to the Switch 2.
