The city of Bengaluru was in for a surprise on Monday as the Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid on the premises of two sons of a prominent Karnataka Congress MLA, N A Haris. The reason for this sudden raid was a suspected case of money laundering linked to cryptocurrency. According to officials, about twelve locations in the city were being searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

This included the homes of Mohammed Haris Nalapad and Omar Farook Nalapad, the sons of the MLA, as well as the residence of an alleged crypto hacker known as Srikrishna Ramesh, alias Sriki. It's worth noting that N A Haris is a well-known Congress legislator representing the Shantinagar Assembly seat in Bengaluru. The investigation into this money laundering case was initiated based on FIRs and chargesheets filed by the Karnataka Police in 2017.

The case revolves around the hacking of national and international websites, and the theft of bitcoins by Sriki and his accomplices. The alleged beneficiaries of this crypto-linked crime are believed to be Mohammed Haris Nalapad and Omar Farook Nalapad.
