Bhubaneswar: As the curtains close on his tenure as Odisha's chief minister, Naveen Patnaik took a moment to extend his heartfelt congratulations to TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu for his party's impressive performance in the recent elections.
In a warm conversation with X, Patnaik expressed his admiration for Naidu's remarkable success and his long-standing association with him throughout their respective political journeys. He also shared his sincere wishes for the progress and development of Andhra Pradesh under Naidu's capable leadership.
Patnaik's kind words came after TDP secured a staggering 135 seats in the 175-member Andhra Pradesh assembly, surpassing other parties like Jansena Party, YSRCP, and BJP. Additionally, in the parliamentary elections, TDP emerged victorious in 16 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state, with YSRCP, BJP, and JNP following closely behind.
In comparison, Patnaik's BJD faced a disappointing defeat in Odisha, securing only 51 seats out of the 147 Assembly seats. The BJP, on the other hand, emerged as the winner with 78 seats, followed by Congress, Independent, and CPI with one seat each. The BJD also failed to make a mark in the Lok Sabha polls, while BJP claimed a significant 20 seats and Congress took one.
As Patnaik bid farewell to his role as the chief minister, he took the opportunity to congratulate Naidu and wish him all the best for the future. PTI
