Assistant revenue inspector in Odisha suspended for extorting money from students.

The government of Odisha has taken strict action against an assistant revenue inspector, who was accused of engaging in corrupt practices. According to reports, the said inspector was stationed at Sadar-IV RI Circle in Sambalpur and was suspended for allegedly accepting bribes from students in exchange for caste certificates. An official order stated that the inspector's headquarters have been shifted to the office of the Sub-Collector in Kuchinda during the suspension period. Furthermore, he has been strictly instructed to seek prior permission from the competent authority before leaving the headquarters and will only receive a subsistence allowance. Additionally, the Tahsildar at Sambalpur Sadar has been directed to personally serve the suspension order to the inspector and obtain an acknowledgment.

The Tahsildar has also been asked to submit a draft on the charges against the inspector for further disciplinary proceedings.
