An elderly woman's body was discovered beneath a kitchen slab in Puri.

In the bustling town of Puri, a tragic event unfolded on Tuesday as the police discovered the body of an elderly woman under a cement-plastered kitchen slab. The woman's son, Madan Dalai, has been identified as the prime suspect in her murder and is believed to have fled the scene. The incident was reported by the house owner to the authorities.

The discovery was made when a foul smell emanating from beneath the kitchen slab caught the attention of the residents. The police were immediately informed and a scientific team was dispatched to the location. After breaking open the plaster, the woman's body was found.

Madan, a 45-year-old man who is known to sell water bottles near the revered Shree Jagannath Temple, has been on the run and his phone has been unreachable. Upon hearing of the incident, Puri SP Prateek Singh personally visited the spot to assess the situation. He assured the public that the police have launched a thorough investigation into the death.

As part of their inquiry, the authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the house. Sources claim that the footage captures the activities of the mother and son until August 19, the day of the incident. According to sources, the mother and son had only been renting the house for the past two months, paying a modest sum of Rs 3,000 per month.

Neighbors have revealed that the duo mostly kept to themselves and did not interact much with the community. The tight-knit neighborhood has been left in shock and disbelief, as this type of gruesome event is rare in their peaceful town. The local newspaper, Orissa POST, has covered the incident extensively, labeling it as a tragedy that has shaken the entire state.

The police have promised to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice for the victim and her grieving loved ones. The community is now left to mourn the loss of a beloved member and hope for swift justice to be served.
