Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh moved viewers to tears as she broke down while explaining her emotional reason for taking part in Celebrity MasterChef. Competing with fellow actor Michael Praed, Black Eyed Peas star Apl.de.Ap, Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell, and Love Island's Luca Bish, Amy wanted to prove to herself that she could do something good.
"I want to prove to myself I can do something good," Amy said, her voice trembling as she fought back tears. "I don't know why I'm crying!" The mum-of-one continued, "I think you just lose your nerve and forget who you are a bit when you've been away from all that and then this opportunity came and I could have run a mile. I have been so out of the work game, I am normally in a tracksuit in the play pen with my baby 90% of the time eating baked potatoes because that's easier!"
The judges, John Torode and Gregg Wallace, were impressed with Amy's courage. Gregg replied, "I want to tell you right now, I'm impressed by you." Viewers at home also showered the Tracy Metcalfe actress with support, despite her "mortifying" blunder of mixing up a tablespoon of sugar with a tablespoon of salt.
Unfortunately, it was Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell who was eliminated from the competition. After John announced her departure, Greg said, "Dianne, honestly we hope you have enjoyed it." Dianne, clearly emotional, responded, "I feel gutted to be the first one to go home. I think eliminations get to me, I am used to them though but they never get easier."
Fans showed their support for Dianne, with one fan penning "Aww bless Dianne not getting through to the next round. She should be so proud of herself though," while another said, "Ridiculous that Dianne has gone first."
Celebrity MasterChef returns tonight at 9pm on BBC One. Tune in to see who will win the competition and to find out what other emotional moments the show will bring.
