A reader believes the remake of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time will outshine GTA 6 for Game of the Year.

The highly-anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo's Switch 2 has been the topic of much speculation and mystery. Many believe it has the potential to steal the game of the year award from the highly-anticipated GTA 6. The remake's reveal was unprecedented and extreme, with Nintendo showing only a small glimpse of the graphics and not giving a release date.

It was a surprise to see the high-tech and realistic graphics, which deviated from the original concept art. This could potentially make it the best-looking game on Switch 2 and a completely different experience from the original. Although many are eagerly anticipating its release, it is likely that the remake will not be out for quite some time, as Nintendo will most likely have another Direct dedicated to it before its autumn release.

This puts it close to the November 19 release date of GTA 6, but Nintendo is not known for worrying about other companies' releases. Additionally, the two games are vastly different and will not be competing with each other. Nintendo is known for securing the prime Christmas release slot and will not let GTA 6 or any other game get in their way.

However, the competition between the two games may not just be limited to their release dates. Both are likely to be up for awards, and while GTA 6 is highly anticipated, Ocarina of Time is still considered one of the best games of all time. Its modern update and significant changes may make it a strong contender for game of the year.

Some may argue that GTA 6 deserves the award more as a new game, but it is unlikely to deviate greatly from its predecessors. The delays may have more to do with the addition of Roblox-style creator content rather than groundbreaking gameplay innovations. On the other hand, Ocarina of Time's remake has the potential to be a truly fresh and impressive experience.

It is not a given that GTA 6 will sweep all the awards, as some may be biased towards it simply because of its popularity, similar to how Titanic won numerous Oscars despite being a mediocre film. The existing GTA games do not hold a candle to Ocarina of Time's quality, and this is unlikely to change. So while GTA 6 may be the favorite due to its not-a-remake status, Ocarina of Time's remake has the potential to surpass it and become game of the year or even game of all time.
