Last night, a devastating accident occurred on the A228 Boyle Way near East Peckham. It involved a tipper truck and a horse-drawn carriage, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives. The driver of the truck has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the collision took place at around 6:25pm when the tipper truck, driven by a 29-year-old man from Kent, was travelling in the same direction as the pony and trap. The crash occurred on the A228 near Tonbridge, Kent, leaving a woman critically injured and fighting for her life in the hospital. Tragically, a man in his 30s, who was travelling in the pony and trap, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident took place between the junctions of Bandridges Road and Hale Street. A young girl and a woman were also in the carriage and were taken to the hospital. Sadly, the child did not survive.
The pony involved in the accident also lost its life at the scene. The authorities have since taken the truck driver into custody and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen the truck or the pony and trap before the crash to come forward and contact 101.
