In Pune, a 17-year-old boy has been summoned by the Juvenile Justice Board to appear before them on Wednesday. The board received a petition from the Pune police to review their previous decision to grant the boy bail. The hearing is scheduled to take place at 12 noon at the board's office in the Yerawada area.

According to reports, the teenager was allegedly behind the wheel of a Porsche when he crashed into a motorbike, resulting in the death of two software engineers in Kalyani Nagar, Pune. The police have stated that the boy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday. He was later presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and was granted bail a few hours later.

Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil stated, "After we filed a revision petition, the board issued a notice to the juvenile to appear before them." The Pune police had initially approached a sessions court to challenge the bail order and requested permission to treat the boy as an adult due to the severity of the crime. However, the court directed them to approach the Juvenile Justice Board with their petition.

According to the police, the accused juvenile and his friends had consumed alcohol at two different establishments between 9:30 pm and 1 am on the night of the incident. The board, in its order on Sunday, stated that the Child-in-Conflict with Law will be released on bail upon executing a personal bond and surety bond of Rs 7,500. The boy's parents will be responsible for him and he is not to engage in any criminal activities in the future.

The board also ordered the boy to visit the Regional Transport Office and study traffic rules, and submit a presentation to the board within 15 days. The order also stated that the boy must write a 300-word essay on the topic of road accidents and their solutions. This decision was made in an effort to educate and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
