Bhubaneswar: The hard work of over 34.24 lakh farmers in Odisha has been recognized through the PM-Kisan scheme, as they have each received Rs 2,000, amounting to a total of Rs 684 crore. This was made possible when Prime Minister Narendra Modi released over Rs 19,000 crore for 9.32 crore farmers across the country at an event in Assam's Guwahati on Friday. The state-level event at OUAT, attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, highlighted the benefits of the scheme for farmers in purchasing seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs.
CM Majhi emphasized the significance of this installment for small farmers, despite some considering it to be a small amount. He acknowledged that today is a day of celebration for both the country and the state, as it is being observed as PM-Kisan Utsav Diwas. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness about the eligibility criteria for the scheme and urged farmers to complete mandatory requirements such as e-KYC, land record details, and Aadhaar-bank account linking, to receive all benefits.
In Odisha, over 34.24 lakh eligible farmers have already received their Rs 2,000 installment, totaling Rs 684 crore, under the 22nd installment released by the PM. CM Majhi also highlighted the state's implementation of the CM-Kisan scheme, which provides Rs 4,000 in two installments to eligible farmers. He shared that the scheme has already added six lakh new beneficiaries and has provided over Rs 2,991 crore to 51.54 lakh beneficiaries, including 3,236 farmers from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups and 31,695 urban farmers.
Moreover, CM Majhi expressed the state government's commitment to supporting the education of children from CM-Kisan beneficiary families. Through scholarships for pursuing professional and technical courses in government and private institutions, students from beneficiary families are greatly benefitting. This has contributed towards the overall development and progress of the state.
In conclusion, the PM-Kisan and CM-Kisan schemes have brought significant benefits to farmers in Odisha, and the state government continues to work towards their welfare and empowerment.
