Palibetta, Nov. 7: To celebrate the golden jubilee of the Young India Youth Club, a national-level open football tournament will be held at the Palibetta Public Ground on January 9, 10 and 11, 2026. To promote this, a logo release program was held at the Palibetta Young India Youth Club premises.
Former President of the Zilla Panchayat Social Standing Committee Mookonda Viju Subramani released the logo. Speaking later at the program, he said that the efforts of the leaders of the Young India Youth Club have been responsible for the recognition of rural sportsmen at the national level. A sportsman named Ramshad, a member, has achieved many achievements by being recognized at the national level. Kodagu was known as the sports district. The government and the sports department are ignoring the talents who are recognized at the state and national levels, and as a result, rural sportsmen are being deprived of sports. Without a proper playground system, a situation has arisen where players have to play on the roadsides. He said that the government should provide more encouragement to athletes by constructing well-equipped playgrounds in rural areas as well. He said that everyone should cooperate with the national level football tournament being held in the village and encourage athletes.
Former Taluk Panchayat member Ajith Karumbaiah said that the Young India Youth Club, which has completed 55 years, has taken the initiative to bring several athletes into the mainstream through sports achievements. He advised the athletes to identify themselves with social service by encouraging this association built and nurtured by the elders in the past.
Former Gram Panchayat President Vasant said that the association built and nurtured by the elders should be led by the current young athletes. He said that Palibetta village is a witness to peace, coexistence and brotherhood and that they should be recognized as good athletes through sportsmanship and bring fame to the village. Former President of the Traders' Association Kalappa said that through sports associations, athletes from rural areas have been able to be recognized at the state, national and international levels, and several athletes from the village have revealed their talents with achievements.
Former Zilla Panchayat member Ganesh said that it is a matter of pride that the youth association, which has completed 55 years, is moving forward with several social service works.
