In Bhubaneswar, a man has been arrested by the Airfield police on Friday for the alleged rape of a woman. The accused, identified as Diptiranjan Palei, is 30 years old and is from Orada village in Khurda district. According to the In-Charge of the Airfield police station, Sashikanta Rout, the accused is a government food safety official.
The incident dates back to 2023, when the accused met the victim's husband at an event. The victim's husband had requested Palei to help his wife find a job. In return, the couple paid Rs 6 lakh to Diptiranjan. However, instead of keeping his promise, Diptiranjan took advantage of the victim and raped her.
The victim bravely came forward and filed a complaint at the Airfield police station, seeking justice against Diptiranjan. The In-Charge further stated that Diptiranjan had lured the victim to a hotel under the pretext of providing her training, but then proceeded to rape her and threatened to harm her if she told anyone about the incident.
As a result, the police have charged Diptiranjan under Sections 376, 417, 420, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before a local court on Friday for further legal proceedings. It is disheartening to see such heinous acts still prevalent in our society, but it is reassuring to know that the law is taking its course and the victim's bravery has not gone unnoticed.
