October 7th 2023.
The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon is back for 2023 and it's time to get ready for a great weekend! Around 16,000 runners will be participating, hoping to raise money for hundreds of charities and good causes.
The Half Marathon takes runners through four Royal Parks and past some of the capital's most iconic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and the Royal Albert Hall. With that in mind, it's important to plan your route in advance, as the half marathon can make travel around central London tricky.
But what roads are closed for the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2023? Tomorrow - Sunday, October 8th - roads within Hyde Park will be closed from one minute past midnight to 5am on Monday, October 9th. Roads within St James's Park will be closed from 6am until dusk in line with Park closures, and roads within Westminster will be closed from 7am to 12pm.
The Piccadilly Underpass will also be affected, with eastbound travel from Knightsbridge to Mayfair being diverted around Hyde Park from Kensington Church St. However, one lane will remain open for westbound journeys from Mayfair to Knightsbridge. Hyde Park Corner will be shut from 7am until 12pm, and visitors to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens may be directed to different gates on the day of the run.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon route is 13.1 miles long, starting and finishing in Hyde Park, but also travels through Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens - a full route map is available on the Royal Parks Half Marathon website.
Finally, a huge good luck and thank you to all who are running the @RoyalParksHalf this weekend! By taking part in this half marathon you are supporting the work of caring for the most famous collection of urban parks in the world.
Get running and get ready for the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2023!
