After serving in the Army for 14 years, Nick was medically discharged due to PTSD and a spinal injury. Nick's latest target? British politician Andy Burnham. Inviting the Prime Minister to take on the wheelchair challenge, Nick hopes to give him a taste of the daily struggles faced by wheelchair users.

And with his viral social media accounts garnering millions of views every month, Nick's message is certainly reaching a wide audience. But Nick's journey towards advocacy began after a difficult personal experience. Due to his ability to stand for short periods, he was denied a wheelchair by services and had to rely on fundraising to obtain a second-hand one.

This eye-opening experience made him realize the lack of accessibility in society, even in the year 2023. Since then, Nick has been using his platform to create a dialogue about accessibility and offer people the chance to experience it for themselves. From a music festival circuit to pop-up obstacles in town centres, Nick's wheelchair challenge is a hands-on way for people to understand the diverse challenges faced by wheelchair users.

And with Andy Burnham being the third Prime Minister he has invited to take on the challenge, Nick is feeling optimistic. He believes that Burnham's down-to-earth nature and previous experience with accessibility will make him a strong ally in the fight for more inclusive spaces. In fact, Burnham has previous experience with accessibility, having been shown around Wembley Stadium in a wheelchair before becoming an MP.

Nick sees this as a perfect opportunity for him to revisit the experience, but this time with someone who truly understands the day-to-day reality of living with a disability. Nick's ultimate goal is for society to realize that accessibility is not a one-size-fits-all situation. It is a personal and subjective experience, and one that can only be truly understood by walking (or rolling) in the shoes of a wheelchair user.
