A tragic five-car crash in Wolverhampton on Saturday afternoon has resulted in two fatalities and three injuries. All the occupants of the same vehicle, ranging from 70s to 90s, were affected by the crash which occurred on Millfields Road, Ettingshall at 3.30pm.

The two women, aged 82 and 76, were found in critical condition and sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The three men, aged 79, 78, and 90, were taken to hospital. The 90-year-old remains in serious condition, while the other two are stable.

A 51-year-old man, involved in a different car, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He has since been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police expressed his sadness towards this incident and stated: “This is a particularly sad set of circumstances and our thoughts go out to all of the families affected. It’s important that we piece together what happened in order to provide all those involved the answers they deserve.”

He continued, “We would ask people not to speculate on what happened as it’s unhelpful to the investigation and causes upset to the families. We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision. In particular, if anyone has any dashcam that may have captured the collision, please get in touch.”
