Karen Taylor and Mitch Baker made a surprise return to EastEnders for the Christmas episode, much to the joy of viewers. The pair, who had been written out just a few weeks prior, appeared in a video call with Bernie Taylor.
The Taylor family had been forced out of Walford after Keanu's kidnapping of Albie, leaving Bernie alone and freezing on Christmas day. Karen and Mitch checked in with Bernie and asked why the lights were off and why she was wearing her coat - Bernie lied, not wanting them to worry.
The video call gave Bernie food for thought, and she made a beeline for Keanu's wedding to Sharon Watts. She hoped to convince him to let Karen return to Walford, but Keanu refused and uninvited her from the wedding. Feeling betrayed, Bernie made the decision to tell Phil Mitchell that Keanu was responsible for Albie’s kidnapping, not Karen. Phil then exposed the truth to Sharon before slapping Keanu across the face.
