Coleen Nolan, known for her role in Loose Women, recently shared a personal experience on the show. She recounted a night when she believed her late sister, Bernie, had sent her a sign from beyond.
Bernie, the eldest sister of the Nolan family, passed away in 2013 at the age of 52 after a long battle with breast cancer. Coleen, who is now 59 years old, was discussing spooky encounters with her fellow panelists when she recalled the night in question.
"It was the anniversary of Bernie's passing on July 4th, so I posted a tribute to her on social media. That night, as I was sleeping, I was suddenly woken up by the overwhelming scent of perfume. It was strong enough to physically wake me up," Coleen shared with Linda Robson, Olivia Attwood, and Charlene White.
She continued, "I couldn't believe it. The smell lasted for about five minutes and then it disappeared. The next day, I called my sister to ask her what perfume Bernie used to wear because I couldn't remember. It turns out, it was the same perfume I had smelled that night."
Coleen and her sisters Linda, Maureen, and Bernie were known for their close bond, and the loss of Bernie was a devastating blow for the family. Seven years after her passing, Coleen paid a heartfelt tribute to her sister ahead of a family TV series that documented their European cruise adventure.
"We always talk about Bernie on the cruise. Everywhere we went, we would say, 'Bernie would have loved this' or 'Bernie would have said that'. She was such a big part of our lives, and we try to remember her in a positive and loving way," Coleen shared with her co-hosts.
Linda, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2023, also had an experience with Bernie after her passing. In an interview last year, she revealed that she no longer fears death because of a dream she had with her sister.
"I was scared when I first found out about my diagnosis, but a few days later, I had a dream about Bernie. We were laughing and sorting out my will together. When I woke up, I felt at peace and no longer afraid," Linda shared.
Bernie first announced her breast cancer diagnosis in 2010 and was declared cancer-free after undergoing treatment. However, the cancer returned in 2012, and she passed away the following year.
