Ella Morgan Clark is set to make history as the first ever trans contestant on the upcoming episode of Married At First Sight UK. In an exclusive clip shared with The Agency, Ella, 29, unveiled her wedding dress to her parents, leaving them emotional.
Ella’s dad Chris spoke to the camera, saying: “She looks absolutely stunning, she looks perfect. Extremely proud today. With everything we’ve been through in the past…yeah, extremely proud.” Ella chimed in, saying “I feel like a princess I dreamed of being.”
The clinic consultant from Weston-Super-Mare opened up about her tough upbringing during Monday’s debut. She said: “I deliberately didn’t want to answer [about family] and I know I’m sounding cryptic now but there was a time where my life wasn’t that easy and we weren’t the family that we are now.”
She continued, “I was born in the wrong body, my parents actually gave birth to a little boy called Evan but I’ve transitioned into Ella who I am now and who I have always been.” Ella’s emotional display was met with an outpouring of support from viewers. One viewer wrote: “Ella looks amazing what a brave woman.”
Despite being open with viewers, Ella decided not to share her transition with the other brides just yet. She wanted to be able to tell her husband first, feeling that she ‘owes it’ to him. Ella had prepared for backlash when signing up, saying, “I knew I would get a lot of backlash and a lot of hate as the first transgender person. And I’ve always struggled labelling myself as a trans person because you feel a sense of shame sometimes, and I’m lucky to have my family but it has shown me the negative side.”
