August 30th 2023.
It was a spooky coincidence when Dawn and Nigel Dandy, a couple from Loughborough in Leicestershire, spotted the face of a music legend in their beach towel while on a break in Skiathos, Greece.
The kitchen assistant thought instantly the outline looked like "hound dog" crooner Elvis Presley and her husband and daughter immediately agreed.
Dawn, a big fan of the late singer, said: “Elvis is one of my all time favourites. I grew up listening to him and have always been a big fan. It was quite exciting and funny. My husband and I are both fans of Elvis and we both immediately said it looked like him.”
After taking a picture of the towel on August 16th, Dawn realised the date was 46 years to the day after Elvis's death. She said: “It was on the day of the anniversary of his death – it made it quite special really.”
It's not the first time the king of rock 'n' roll's face has seemingly come back from the dead either. Lisa Ringsell, 27, from Dundee, did a double-take when she saw him staring back at her from a pot of McDonald's ketchup last year. She said: “As soon as I saw him, I immediately said ‘what?’ and showed my partner. I said to him ‘this looks like Elvis’, I took the photo straight away and showed some friends. They were just laughing about it, they could see the resemblance too.”
Although Lisa's partner Dean, 26, wasn't as excited about the discovery, telling her she gets excited over 'silly things', the Dandy's experienced a moment they won't forget. When asked about the experience, Dawn said: “We’d hung the towel up to dry after we’d been sunbathing and were sat on the balcony when I said, ‘There’s a face in that towel.’ It was quite the spooky coincidence!”
