Toniebox and the Natural History Museum have joined forces to bring a new collection of tonies to life. These tonies tell the stories of the museum through the exciting adventures of three courageous explorers. If you're a parent with a child under the age of 8 and you haven't yet experienced the wonders of a Toniebox, this collaboration may just change your mind.
For those who are unfamiliar with Tonieboxes, they are brightly colored 5-inch tall boxes with very few buttons. In fact, the only controls are a small ear for increasing the volume and a larger one for decreasing it. The boxes come with special characters that contain songs, stories, or educational content that attach to the top of the box with a magnet. When the character is placed on the box, the sound begins to play. And when it's removed, the sound stops. It's so simple that even a toddler can operate it - and trust me, they do. My 4-year-old daughter has taken her Toniebox with her on all of our travels, from bedtime routines to camping trips, car rides, and even during those dreaded flight delays. It's been a lifesaver and a source of endless entertainment when her friends come over.
Currently, there are over 1,100 Tonie characters available in different languages across 100 countries. These include beloved Disney songs and stories, popular shows, and classic storybooks. And now, the Toniebox has expanded its repertoire with the introduction of the Clever Pocket Tonies range, which offers a fun and engaging way for children to learn through audio.
Exciting news has just been announced by the Natural History Museum and tonies® - their first collaboration in the Clever Pocket Tonies range, designed to ignite a passion for learning through audio. The Natural History Museum Discovery Crew Clever Pocket Tonie series will feature four immersive adventures that will captivate young listeners and inspire their inner natural explorer.
To create these exciting stories, the brand worked closely with some of the museum's 370 scientists to curate fun and fact-filled tales that will be featured on the famous Toniebox. Children will be taken on thrilling journeys through time alongside three brave explorers - Ruari, Jo, and Hamid - as they encounter prehistoric creatures, dive into the depths of the ocean, and even get a closer look at some of the largest creatures in the garden. And along the way, they will also have the chance to meet some of the museum's most influential historical figures, such as Charles Darwin and Mary Anning.
As part of the launch for the Tonies, Metro attended an event at the Natural History Museum in London's South Kensington. We were given a special tour by the museum's very own Leonie Biggenden, who transported us back 500 million years and brought the prehistoric exhibits to life - just like the Toniebox characters do. After the tour, Leonie shared her thoughts, saying, "It was a real joy to create this tour that followed in the footsteps of the Discovery Crew in the new Natural History Museum Clever Pocket Tonies series, giving the children the opportunity to step into their shoes."
Maxine Lister, head of licensing at the Natural History Museum, also expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating, "Creating advocates for the planet is fundamental to our museum mission. Tonies do such wonderful work in crafting stories that are educational and engaging for young learners, and with the wealth of historical knowledge within our museum walls, this collaboration felt only natural."
The National History Museum: Discovery Crew 4-piece set will be available for purchase at £19.99 as part of the new Clever Pocket Tonie range, which aims to inspire a love for learning through the magic of audio. Single Tonies can be purchased for £8.99, and 4-piece Tonie sets for £19.99.
