When it comes to the best console ever made, I'm a huge fan of the Nintendo Switch. From its hardware design to its vast selection of games, it's the best that gaming has ever seen. As I write this, I'm playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder - the second Nintendo game this year to get 10/10 scores from all the most trusted sources. I have no doubt that it will be one of the best games of the year and of the generation. Nintendo's games and consoles have been incredibly consistent for as long as video games have been around. Even when a Nintendo game isn't particularly great, it still gets higher scores than most other games.
However, it's worth noting that Nintendo the publisher can be just as anti-consumer and greedy as any other company. The only reason why the price of Nintendo games never lowers is because people are willing to pay that much for them. It's a testament to the quality of Nintendo's products that people are willing to pay the asking price.
This year has been especially great for the Switch. In what's likely its last full year as the console nears the end of its life, we've seen the release of some amazing games, from Fire Emblem Engage and Metroid Prime Remastered, to Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom and Pikmin 4. And that's not to mention the Switch's full catalogue, which includes Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, ARMS, Splatoon 2 and 3, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3, Super Mario Party, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Ring Fit Adventure, Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Paper Mario: The Origami King, New Pokémon Snap, Metroid Dread, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Bayonetta 3, and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet.
Third party games and Wii U ports like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury have also been amazing, with many sequels being the best the franchise has ever been. Not to mention the fantastic selection of indie games, which have been made even better by the Switch's portability and Nintendo's willingness to promote them.
In conclusion, I'm firm in my belief that the Nintendo Switch is the best console ever. Its games and hardware design are incredible and have given us some of the best experiences of the entire generation. I can only imagine how incredible the Switch 2 will be when it comes out.
