One dead, two rescued after helicopter crashes into Florida bay

Footage shows the helicopter’s flotation device turned upside down in the water. A helicopter crashed into Biscayne Bay, Florida, leaving at least one person dead and two others taken to hospital. Officials were also seen standing beside a tarp covering what appears to be a body.

It is believed that the captain of a nearby boat reported the crash to the Coast Guard. The incident comes just days after nine people were killed when a private jet crashed near West Palm Beach on Sunday. The victims were identified as 45-year-old tech tycoon Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, 40, their young children Emma and Charlie, the family’s nanny Anita Maria Apellido Cetina, and family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

Helen’s father confirmed the deaths, saying: “It’s quite a blow. We had a daughter, her husband and two grandchildren on the plane.” The co-pilot of the doomed flight was also named as Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, a 20-year-old aviation enthusiast who earned her pilot’s license as a teenager. Her mother and stepfather confirmed to The New York Post that she was the co-pilot aboard the aircraft when it crashed.

“I wanted her to live her dream, but I knew that her dream was going to be the thing that would take her away from me,” her mother said. “I knew that a plane was gonna take her away from me. I always knew it, but I was so proud of her.

I know she was living her dream.”
