The remake trilogy of Final Fantasy 7 will be completed with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation this spring.

Final Fantasy 7 fans, rejoice! The highly anticipated third installment of the remake has been announced at this year's Summer Game Fest. And the best part?

It will be available on all platforms at the same time. While the Summer Game Fest had a lot of exciting game reveals, it was also a bit frustrating to watch. Most games only got a brief moment in the spotlight before moving on to the next one.

But one game got more attention than the rest - Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. This mic drop announcement at the end of the show was the final piece of the trilogy and is set to release in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Despite doubts from some, the first two installments - Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - were exceptional, staying true to the original PS1 game while introducing new gameplay elements and expanding the story for both old and new fans.

With that in mind, there is high anticipation for Revelation and its potential to be just as great, especially since Rebirth was named Game of the Year in 2024. However, the open world aspect of the game did receive some criticism for being too bloated. But the game's reveal at the Summer Game Fest did not address this criticism.

Instead, there was a lot of emphasis on the open world being the largest one yet, with the ability to pilot the Highwind airship and parachute to any location. The trailer also featured fan-favorite characters like gunslinging vampire Vincent Valentine and airship pilot Cid as playable characters. And let's not forget the appearance of various Weapons, super tough enemy bosses, and the option to change each character's outfit, which affects their abilities.

While there was no specific release date mentioned, the spring 2027 timeframe suggests it will be released between March and May. This places it in a comfortable spot away from the highly anticipated GTA 6. And Final Fantasy 7 wasn't just mentioned during the game reveal - Tifa was also announced as a new character for season four of Street Fighter 6, joining three other brand new fighters.

But back to Final Fantasy 7 - the trilogy is almost complete. Fans can sign up for exclusive gaming analysis and the latest reviews by subscribing to the GameCentral newsletter. And for those who want to share their thoughts, you can comment below, email us, or follow us on Twitter.
