The Queen Collective, founded by Queen Latifah, is a program dedicated to helping Black women filmmakers by offering resources, mentorship, and financial support.
She's definitely earned the title of "Queen!" Queen Latifah has created the Queen Collective, a program in partnership with Procter & Gamble, Flavor Unit Entertainment, and Tribeca Studios, to offer women filmmakers of color the chance to develop and screen their short films in order to increase gender, racial, and representation parity in the industry. "We established this partnership, the Queen Collective, to give women of color a chance to generate, create, direct, and obtain financing for their short film and distribution. We will manage every step of the way and let them make their vision a reality," Latifah said.

The Queen Collective, launched in 2019, provides guidance, production help, distribution options, and monetary resources to these creative filmmakers. Some of the most recent directors included are Imani Dennison, Luchina Fisher, Contessa Gayles, Idil Ibrahim, Vashni Korin, and Jenn Shaw. Latifah commented, "We have observed our directors [hiring] over 50% people of color and over 50% women on their teams. It has provided the experience that was needed, and it has started to form the pipeline that we need. If you want to employ someone, you want to recruit the best person; the best person requires training [and] experience, so if we don't even have the experience, how can we be the best?"

According to Variety, the Queen Collective has assisted approximately 100 people in obtaining employment in the industry, with 75% being people of color. Latifah added, "I'm not only pleased with the directors, but also with the teams they hired because I know all those people can get jobs in those positions." The Queen Collective short films may now be seen on demand through BET platforms like BET, BET HER, BET SOUL, BET JAMS, and PLUTO TV. Additionally, viewers can find them on the P&G website.
