It has been reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to visit the state of Odisha on September 17th in order to launch the 'Subhadra Yojana'. This scheme, which is a part of the BJP government's efforts to support women in the state, was announced by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during a press conference on Sunday. Speaking to reporters after paying a visit to the Jagannath temple in Puri, the Union Education Minister shared that the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, along with two Deputy CMs, had personally extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to inaugurate the Subhadra Yojana on September 17th and the PM had graciously accepted.
Pradhan went on to explain the purpose of this scheme, stating that during the election, the BJP government had promised to empower women by providing them with a sum of Rs. 50,000 each. The people of Odisha had put their faith in the party and as a result, the Mohan Majhi-led government has already released the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the implementation of this scheme. Under the Subhadra Yojana, over one crore women between the ages of 26 and 60, who fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, will receive Rs. 10,000 annually for a period of five years.
When asked about the inventory and maintenance of the Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of the Jagannath temple, Pradhan informed that the state government had requested for a high-level team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to visit the 12th century shrine and inspect the treasury. He also added that the government of Odisha will create a detailed list of all the jewellery and valuables stored in the Ratna Bhandar and compare it with the previous list.
The Union Minister further expressed the BJP government's commitment to transform Puri into a modern spiritual city. He mentioned that he, being a native of the state, was personally invested in the development of Odisha and had arrived in Puri for a three-day visit to explore more opportunities for growth and progress.
